Migliavaca Mansion

I live in the downtown area and often walk past the Migliavaca Mansion (a.k.a Matt Bishop parking spots) on my way to restaurants and shops.

I can attest to the demonic activity surrounding the lot. The source of the "haunting" is not related to the past but the present.

Homeless fools drinking liquor, smoking drugs and urinating on the fire escape, while eluding Napa"s Finest.

This seems to be a great place to "board" your dog while away on vacation.
I hope that they also require documentation that new client dogs are up-to-date with their immunizations (shots). If this is not a requirement I would be hesitant to leave my dog where he might contract a communicable disease.

I really enjoyed the article, it brought back many happy memories for me. I lived at 6091 Dry Creek Rd. from 1979-1981, the volunteer fire depatment housed a truck and had training classes behind the house we were renting. The pics were great, always nice to see the ladies at work. It gave me a great piece of mind having them right there. Misty was 6, Jen 3, and I was pregnant with Tiff. I shared some of the highlights and some of the family memories with Fynn and Alexis; 2 of my 8 grandchildren. You may be interested to know that their scooters became Firetrucks and they fueled them with tea and water. Grandma wants them to perfect the technology so she can fill her car with the stuff. How time flys, great article!!

I was wondering if Paula Amen Schmitt will get credit in the history section of the October issue for her article on "Fighting Fires." I always enjoy your history articles.

I am so pleased that Paula Schmitt has gotten credit for the story she wrote on the Lokoya Women Volunteer Fire Fighters. Thank you for correcting this, even if it is just on your website...could you do something in the next publication as well?

Re:Fighting Fires
By Paula Amen Schmitt with Lauren Coodley

I have spent over 30 years as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT. When I first started there were no females on our department. I am happy to report that this has changed.

Women in the fire service provide an entirely new and much needed dimension to the hanldleing of emergencies.

Great article about a long needed beginning.

Thanks for printing it.
